Ego crash test

In May 2019, driven by a sudden urge, I slipped my entire body, piece by piece, into a desktop scanner. I printed, framed the images and decided to attack what I then affectionately called ‘my digital double’ – that strange avatar that leads a life of its own on the internet. I chose the forest of Sénart for this battle, fascinated by its trenches, dug during the First World War to protect Paris from a possible attack of the German enemy. They were never actually used. In such a place, I am certain, the struggle will be truly epic.

A few weeks later, looking at the photos, the truth is now clear: it was my ego, and its turpitude, that I wanted to confront.
